The Strange Bestiary
A zombie nightstormer can manipulate the energy animating it (whether anti-life curse, electromagnetic, psychic, or something else) to such a degree that the zombie can extend the field beyond itself to perform incredible feats of offense, defense, and mobility (including the ability to fly). Zombie nightstormers are intelligent and devious, and given to pranks of the sort that kill. Sometimes the vicious laughter of a nightstormer that has just caught a victim echoes through the night for miles.
Motive: Sadistic amusement, hunger (for flesh, cerebrospinal fluid, certain human hormones, and so on)
Environment (Weird Science, Magic, or Psionics):Almost anywhere, usually alone or in pairs
Health: 15
Damage Inflicted: Moderate wound (5 points)
Armor: 3
Movement: Immediate; long when flying
Modifications: Perception as level 6.
Combat: The nightstormer attacks with a force-reinforced claw that ignores Armor (except for Armor granted by force effects). The nightstormer prefers 'strafing' attacks in which it moves up to short range, makes a claw attack, and then moves up to short range again as a single action. Whenever a nightstormer takes 3 or more points of damage from a single attack, it loses its strafing ability for one round.
Unlike some other zombies, nightstormers are permanently destroyed when reduced to 0 health.
Nightstormers can see in the dark at any range. Some zombie nightstormers have additional qualities related to how they were created and how likely they are to spread their condition. See Zombie Special Qualities.
Interaction: Zombie nightstormers can speak, but usually do so only to fool a victim into walking into a deadly trap.
Use: Someone or something is scrawling graffiti on hard-to-reach city spires and tall monuments. The PCs hear that the city is looking for someone to put a stop to the crime spree.
GM Intrusion: If the character makes a melee attack against a strafing nightstormer and misses, her weapon is briefly caught in the creature's force field, which yanks it from her hand and flings it a short distance away.
