Tidal Blades
Troglopedes are hulking, one-eyed creatures most commonly found in natural caves across the Droskani Desert. The solitary monsters have thick, stonelike hides and use their loud shrieks to destabilize prey before stomping them to death.
Troglopedes have limited hearing and a minimal sense of touch, so they rely heavily on the extraordinary vision in their single eye for everything from hunting to securing shelter. Some people say this extraordinary vision allows troglopedes to "see" the future, even going so far as to study their actions to try to predict the weather.
Motive: Defense
Environment: Desert
Health: 27
Damage Inflicted: Moderate wound (7 points)
Armor: 3
Movement: Short
Modifications: Balance as level 6; Might defense as level 8; Speed defense as level 4 due to size
Combat: Most troglopede fights start with sound. The creature unleashes an ear-splitting shriek that causes everyone in long distance who hears it to lose their equilibrium; attacks, defenses, and balance tasks are hindered by two steps for two rounds.
Troglopedes tower over most of their foes, and can smash or stomp up to two targets within immediate range as a melee attack. Characters who are stomped on take 7 points of crushing damage (ignores Armor) and are knocked down.
A troglopede's large size and massive amounts of natural armor mean it can walk through many obstacles, including trees, boulders, and walls.
Troglopedes are well armored and hard to hurt, but they're also top heavy and slightly unstable. If they're knocked down, it takes them two rounds to rise and resume taking actions.
If a troglopede's eye is injured, all of its tasks are hindered by two steps.
Troglopedes are immune to damage from sound.
Interaction: Troglopedes clearly have a language, but it's one that most people would rather not hear, as most of their vocalizations seem to have a negative impact on people's senses.
Use: Encountering a troglopede and living to tell about it is a badge of honor, whether in the wild or as part of the challenges.
GM Intrusion: The troglopede stands on a prone foe, inflicting damage every round until the character gets free.
