Sundrega 6 (18)

Tidal Blades

Sundrega means “Hauler of Light” in Yunai.Sundregas are large golden scorpions that grow up to 6 feet (2 m) long and live deep in the jungles. These smart, resourceful creatures scavenge shell devices, moving whatever they find along lines of sulkien (the larval form of sundregas) like living conveyor belts. Once the equipment reaches their lair, the sundrega queen—called the sunmorak—feeds on the energy of the technological treasure in order to create more offspring.

The sulkien, the larval form of the sundrega, forage for lights and blinking equipment, then form a long line similar to a conveyor belt onto which sundregas haul the heavier gear. Following this trail will lead right to their lair and the sunmorak. Sulkien means "Spear of Light" in Yunai.

Sulkien: level 1

The sunmorak, the large, bloated queen of the sundregas, cannot move. Instead, she relies on her telepathic powers to attack enemies and control her colonies.

Sunmorak: level 8, Speed defense as level 1 due to inability to move; health 30; Armor 2; telepathic attack does 8 points of Intellect damage to a foe in long range; immune to michronic attacks

Motive: Gaining shell devices

Environment: Jungles

Health: 18

Damage Inflicted: Moderate wound (6 points)

Armor: 2

Movement: Short

Modifications: Resists michronic energy damage as level 7; perception, searching, and scavenging as level 7

Combat: While a slice from a sundrega's pincers or a poke from their tail is no fun, it's the energy they give off that does the most damage. Their carapaces seem to harness some of the energy from the shell devices they handle, allowing them to release it in a burst when

threatened. While most sundregas can release only one energy burst during a fight, that's often all they need, as each burst inflicts a moderate wound (6 points) on everyone in short range and gives the victims a temporary harmful mutation that lasts until they make their next recovery roll (NPCs recover after resting for ten hours). Roll on the Harmful Mutations table once for each character to see what mutations they receive.

Interaction: Sundregas are focused on getting shell devices, and will go through whatever tries to stand in their way.

Use: While sundregas are most often found scavenging the dead bodies of unfortunate travelers, they are not afraid to attack groups of living adventurers to try to steal their equipment. Some may go so far as to infiltrate buildings and storage spaces to take shell devices.

Loot: Sundregas typically have at least a cypher or two near them.

GM Intrusion: A character fumbles a cypher or artifact that they were about to use, and the sundrega rushes for it, attempting to get it first.
