Tidal Blades
Slobfish are a strange, oozing mass of flesh with a mouth, teeth, and eyes. Scavengers of the deep sea, they eat everything they come across, whether dead or alive. While slobfish are usually small and inoffensive, some—called crawling slobfish—can reach such a large size that hey can touch the bottom of the shallow waters and creep along the beaches. More than one victim has suffocated beneath a crawling slobfish's great mass.
Slobfish have a strange protective aura called a ward, similar to the ones observed on lobobsters. Such wards must be neutralized with bursts of michronic energy before any substantial damage can be done to the creatures.
Crawling slobfish can reach heights of 6 feet (2 m) or more.
Crawling slobfish: level 5; health 15; Armor 7 (from ward)
Motive: Hungers for flesh
Environment: Deep sea and shallow waters
Health: 12
Damage Inflicted: Minor wound (3 points)
Armor: 3 (from ward)
Movement: Short
Modifications: Speed defense as level 2 due to size; resists trickery as level 1
Combat: Slobfish aren't really designed to fight—they're designed to scavenge bits from the dead and dying—so they tend to be messy combatants, attempting to ram, sit on, or smack down their foes with a tentacled fin.
Alternatively, slobfish can spew out whatever's in their digestive tract on up to three foes in short range. The acidic substance inflicts a minor wound (3 points), plus 3 points of damage each additional round until the victim succeeds on a Might defense roll.
Their ward, which they typically keep active at all times, protects them from the majority of damage. However, they are vulnerable to attacks from michronic energy weapons. A successful attack from such a weapon disables the slobfish's ward for a number of rounds qual to the attack's normal amount of michronic damage. Any attacks made while the ward is disabled ignore the ward Armor.
The slobfish can reactivate its ward as its action.
Interaction: Slobfish can be tricked or trapped, especially with food.
Use: A group of slobfish have made their home near a dock or large boat, stealing food and fish from the area.
GM Intrusion: The character is pinned beneath the slobfish.
Depending on the creature's size, this may or may not be damaging, but it's very likely to be unpleasant.
