Tidal Blades
The howls of a pack of seahounds piercing the night can be a terrifying thing. Anyone's natural reaction would be to flee. This might well be their last mistake, because seahounds live for the chase. Small but mighty, they can outrun almost anyone on land, are especially fast swimmers, and spit acid that can quickly incapacitate a group of foes. They're also incredible climbers and jumpers, able to navigate between water, land, and structures with agility and ease.
The Betalodic name for seahounds is Carchadon lupusi.
Motive: Hunger for flesh
Environment: Reefs, but can be found almost anywhere except the desert
Health: 12
Damage Inflicted: Moderate wound (4 points)
Movement: Long when running, swimming, and pouncing
Modifications: Climbing, jumping, and Speed defense as level 5; sneaking as level 3
Combat: Seahounds prefer to fight at range, typically surrounding their foe or backing it into a corner. They can spit a stream of noxious black acid through the air to land on a single target up to a long distance away, or spray it on up to three targets within short range. The acid inflicts a moderate wound (4 points) initially, plus 4 points each additional round until the victim succeeds on a Might defense roll. If surprised or otherwise unable to create distance between themselves and their foe, they will attack a foe up to a long distance away with a momentous pounce and bite move. While seahounds howl regularly as a form of communication, they also have a subsonic growl that works as a defensive weapon, should anyone get too close. When a seahound growls as an action, victims in immediate range who fail Intellect defense rolls are paralyzed for two rounds. A pack of four or more seahounds can concentrate on a single foe and make one attack as if they were a level 6 creature. Their combined acid attacks inflict a major wound (8 points) initially, plus 8 points each additional round until the victim succeeds on a Might defense roll. Seahounds are immune to all acid-based attacks.
Interaction: While seahounds are clever, they don't seem interested in interacting with people, who are seen as prey.
Use: Seahounds make devious and cunning adversaries, whether on shore, in the water, or on a watercraft. Occasionally, one or more packs of seahounds band together in a large group and attack a small community or dock.
GM Intrusion: The seahound's acid also hits a door, floor, or other part of a structure, and quickly begins to eat away at the material.
