Tidal Blades
The shiny scales of the razor eel reflect a nearby light source, temporarily blinding one or more characters.
Reefins are orange, smooth-skinned sea mammals that have recently started to be domesticated as mounts and detection animals. They have sleek bodies, with two large, powerful tails and flat, fishlike heads. These sweet, slightly nervous creatures can be trained as mounts or to pull small boats like Leafs, able to carry one person or a small amount of supplies easily from one place to another.
Reefins can also be trained to detect a variety of objects or creatures in the water, including shellers, shell tech, certain types of fish, cyphers, and so on.
When "dashing" with their tails, they have been known to move up to 30 miles (48 km) per hour through clear water. However, they can only dash for a few hours before they tire and must ake a long rest.
They are social creatures by nature, and can quickly become depressed and lethargic if they're taken from their pod or caregivers.
Motive: Food, loyalty
Environment: Everywhere in the sea
Health: 12
Damage Inflicted: Minor wound (3 points)
Armor: 2 (if domesticated; see Combat)
Movement: Long when swimming; very long when dashing
Modifications: Attacks as level 2 if domesticated (due to training and breeding); Speed defense, social interactions, and finding weakness as level 4; searching and detection as level 5
Combat: Wild reefins typically fight only if forced to do so; they're much more likely to speed away if possible. They defend themselves by seeking out the weakest spot on their foe and biting down hard, inflicting 3 points of damage.
Domesticated reefins are even less likely to fight, as they've been trained or bred to be mild-mannered and protective of people. They may attack if they feel the need to defend their caregiver or rider. Most domesticated reefins are regularly coated with a breathable, skin-like substance called finwax that gives them 2 points of Armor.
When injured, a reefin regains 1 point of health each round.
Interaction: Reefins are typically sweet-natured, a little skittish, and loyal to those who show them kindness. They're smarter than they may seem at first, able to distinguish and respond to a variety of words, commands, and gestures.
Use: In the city, characters can rent domesticated reefins as mounts or to help them find shellers or something else they're seeking. A character who wants a companion might attempt to tame a wild reefin.
Loot: Domesticated reefins have whatever they might be carrying in their packs.
Finwax is a waxy substance that is breathable and skin-like, designed specifically for coating reefins. When applied to a reefin regularly (once a month or so), it gives them 2 points of Armor.
GM Intrusion: A reefin has made friends with a seahound, which comes to aid the reefin in the fight.
