Haku 4 (12) SECURITY GUARD

Neon Rain

Haku used to be quite well-off, but you wouldn't know it now. He converted all of his liquid assets to ChóCoin only days before the bubble burst. Haku's bad luck continued when he was mugged and left for dead in a Northend alleyway, then taken to Edge City Medical Center and treated according to a medical directive that was notarized before he went broke. He was discharged with an upgraded nervous system, a new face, and a heap of debt he had no hope of paying off.

These days, Haku works as a Kaisha security guard. It's a steady paycheck, but he knows he's disposable to his superiors—just a wall of meat between them and a potential assassination.

If he had the stomach for it, Haku would become one of those assassins. Corporate assassins make bank. Corporate assassins get respect.

He's squeamish, and he can't shut off his conscience, but Haku might be amenable to the idea of doing one very bad thing if it means he can get out of the hole for good, rather than a never-ending to-do list of moderately disagreeable acts.

Motive: Pay off his medical debt

Environment: Usually accompanying low-level Kaisha executives on various outings and public appearances

Health: 20

Damage Inflicted: Moderate wound (4 points)

Armor: 1

Movement: Long

Modifications: Speed defense, attacks, and initiative as level 6 due to nervous system enhancements

Combat: Haku can attack twice each round with guns implanted in both of his forearms, for four attacks per round total. Each gun is equipped with AI-assisted target lock, easing consecutive attacks on the same target.

He can also electrocute a target by touching them, due to tasers implanted in his hands. On a failed Might defense roll, the target is stunned for one round, and any cybernetics malfunction and must be rebooted.

Interaction: Haku's approach to his job is to do the bare viable minimum, without calling attention to himself or being reprimanded. He's willing to bargain but will not jeopardize his mployment unless a more lucrative alternative is guaranteed.

While Haku is calm under fire, he's likely to panic once the situation cools down, especially if he's harmed or killed someone. Friendly PCs who provide reassurance gain an asset to any persuasion tasks going forward.

Use: The PCs need access to a Kaisha representative's home, office, or vehicle.

Other Equipment: Haku carries a key fob granting access to all but the most exclusive floors of Corps Tower.

GM Intrusion: A PC is tased by Haku, causing any metal objects on their person to overheat and burn them.
