NIMROD THE HUNTER 7 (21)

The Strange Bestiary

The recursions scattered throughout the Shoals of Earth invite exploration and investigation. They represent new worlds, new realities where anything and everything is possible. For Nimrod, these recursions offer a veritable bounty of things to kill.

Nimrod is a lifelong hunter and personally responsible for the extinction of no fewer than nine species in various recursions. He has a reputation for finding things that don't necessarily want to be found, which means he's been contracted by various agencies on Earth for short-term jobs. He usually stays in whatever recursion he's sent to long enough to earn his pay and bag a few creatures on the side.

Nimrod is a big, heavy-set man in his fifties. He has close-cropped grey hair, a nose that was evidently broken at one point and poorly set, and a maze of scars covering his face, neck, arms, and pretty much everywhere on his body. He favors camouflaged clothing and wears combat webbing laden with supplies. When translating to a recursion, he takes the form of some kind of predator, if possible.

Nimrod enjoys telling stories about everything but his origin. If someone suggests that he was born of a recursion seeded by Christian stories, he only smiles and shakes his head. However, he marks that person as a future target of his hunt.

Motive: Hunt and kill exotic creatures Strange as level 8.

Combat: Nimrod is a walking arsenal. He carries a rifle, two pistols, an assortment of knives, at least one stun ammunition that he's not likely to run out. When he translates to recursions of Magic or Weird Science, his arsenal is similarly elaborate, but suited to the local context.

Having explored different recursions during his hunting expeditions, he also keeps several cyphers on hand to help him bring down prey or approach without being detected.

Nimrod is good at what he does and may, in fact, be the best. He displays great patience when on the hunt and is methodical about everything he does, from covering his scent to locating tracks. He's not one to make mistakes, so the unfortunate creatures he sets his sights on killing are usually doomed.

Interaction: Nimrod enjoys sharing stories about the creatures he's hunted and killed. He's oblivious to any offense taken and goes into great detail about what steps he took to bag each beast. Nimrod is not above hunting sapient creatures and feels that hunting humans is one of the greatest challenges of all.

An NPC previously crossed by the PCs might hire Nimrod to eliminate them.

Loot: Nimrod carries 1d6 cyphers.

GM Intrusion: Nimrod disappears into the underbrush after making a ranged attack.
