NEON ROLLER 3 (9)

The Strange Bestiary

Many of Atom Nocturne's people gather into cliques, gangs united by common attitudes, psionic ability, or shared interest. The Neon Rollers have the distinction of being one of the most notorious gangs in the city. Outsiders, freaks, castoffs, and unhinged, they thrive on spreading fear and terror. They haunt the city streets. They prey on the weak and isolated. And they use their psychic talents as weapons to intensify their strikes with crowbar, bat, and chain. They are thieves and bullies, and most people consider them a menace.

Adding to their unsavory character is their tendency to join forces with powerful Fallen. They seek out these dangerous individuals and offer their services for as long as the Fallen can afford them. The Rollers guard their benefactor's sanctum and protect their employer from capture.

As their name suggests, Neon Rollers wear bright colors in neon green, blue, pink, and orange. They dye their hair to match and grease it so that it stands up in mohawks and horns.

On missions, the Rollers put on body armor made from lightweight synthetic materials that shine with luminescent circuitry. Their helmets have stylized visors that look like the faces of grinning children, and the Rollers always wear roller skates on their feet.

Motive: Cause trouble

Environment (Atom Nocturne | Psionics): Anywhere in the recursion in groups of six to ten

Health: 9

Damage Inflicted: Moderate wound (4 points)

Armor: 1

Movement: Short

Modifications: All tasks related to balancing as level 2 due to roller skates; Speed defense as level 4 due to quickness.

Combat: Neon Rollers carry a wide range of weapons: bats with nails hammered into the end, lengths of chain, knives, or whatever else they can get their hands on.

Five Neon Rollers can combine their attacks against one target and make one attack roll as a level 5 creature, inflicting 8 points of damage.

When an attack misses a Neon Roller, it can immediately move a short distance as it skates away. For all their posturing and bravado, surviving Neon Rollers flee if more than half of their numbers fall in a fight.

Interaction: Neon Rollers are tough. Little better than thugs, they never waste an opportunity to boast about their strength, their power, and the people whose “asses got kicked.” PCs who appeal to their sense of self-importance might be able to avert a violent encounter.

Use: After entering service with a powerful Fallen, the Neon Rollers go on a crime spree in Atom Nocturne.

Loot: Neon Rollers have rad armor and roller skates that are quite functional.

GM Intrusion: A Neon Roller that damages a character hooks one of the PC’s legs and sends him tumbling to the ground.
