Lorehunter 3 (9)

Tidal Blades

Lorehunters live for just one thing: to be the one who discovers, uncovers, or otherwise makes a claim to a new piece of lore. This might be unearthing a new fact about a legendary monster, tracking down an ancient artifact from the Fold, exploring a wreck in the middle of the Wayward Sea, or being the first to land on an undiscovered island.

Many lorehunters work directly with the Citadel, supplying the city with useful information about a rare monster's origins, habitat, or activities, as well as with interesting artifacts, cyphers, scavenged monster parts, and more. The majority of information in the Lore of the Tidal Blades, as well as many of the items in the Curio Athenaeum, have come about courtesy of lorehunters.

Others sell their information wherever they can, even to the black market. They care less about where the lore goes than they do about the fact that they were the ones who got it.

Lorehunters usually have good survival skills but are less skilled in defense and combat.

They commonly hire mercenaries or otherwise team up with others who've mastered the art of fighting.

Motive: Discovery

Health: 9

Damage Inflicted: Minor wound (2 points)

Movement: Short

Modifications: Attacks and defense as level 2; discovery, searching, perception, tracking, and navigation as level 5

Combat: Lorehunters usually fight only if they're backed into a corner. Most end up fighting with whatever light weapon or tool they have on hand. They probably have a cool artifact or cypher on them but are loath to use it, lest doing so destroys it or otherwise makes it less interesting to the Citadel.

Interaction: Lorehunters are always interested in speculation, rumors, and an interesting tidbit about a new creature, dig site, location, or wreck. They are also more than happy to talk about their newest project, although they're often secretive about the details, lest someone steal their discovery.

Use: Whenever the characters need to know about something out in the wild, lorehunters are a great resource. A lorehunter may come along with the characters if they anticipate something interesting to be uncovered, or they may try to keep characters away from their current discovery site.

Loot: Lorehunters almost always carry a journal or record of their discoveries, along with hints and clues about whatever they're currently tracking. They typically have one or two cyphers.

GM Intrusion: The lorehunter suddenly becomes paranoid that he character is there to steal their discovery.
