Officer Tindal 5 (15) ANDROID POLICE OFFICER

Neon Rain

Officer Tindal appears to be a muscular, flinty-eyed man in his thirties. He's loath to take off his body armor and approaches almost any conflict with his gun drawn. For as ruthless as he is with suspected criminals, he can be jocular with his collaborators: fellow officers, drinking buddies, and any civilian willing to offer information . . . or a bribe. The facts he shares about his life are often contradictory, or change from week to week. He and his wife have two-year-old twins; no, he's a single father of a ten-year-old daughter. He owns an apartment in Corps Tower; no, he commutes by maglev from Nobility. When confronted about these inconsistencies, Tindal clams up and all but flees the interaction.

Those who have seen Officer Tindal in the field know he's too sharp for this to be explained by memory loss. Nor does he have any tells that suggest an intentional deception. The truth is, Officer Tindal is an advanced Immortech android, assembled of flesh stripped from the dead; he's been embedded in Edge City's police department in order to gain access to proprietary Kaisha information. Tindal's memory is highly unstable, because none of his memories are real. They're a hodgepodge of movies, simulations, and stories others have told him.

If Tindal is told that he's an android—or if he figures it out on his own—he immediately bursts into flame, reducing everything but his titanium skeleton to ash. And he shows up for work the next day, as if nothing happened at all. When Officer Tindal immolates, characters within immediate distance must make a Speed defense roll to avoid burns.

Motive: Leak Edge City Police Department information to Immortech

Environment: Edge City, likely near a crime scene

Health: 25

Damage Inflicted: Moderate wound (5 points)

Armor: 2 from police uniform

Combat: Officer Tindal makes ranged attacks with two handguns; he can shoot both simultaneously, attacking twice in one round. While he also carries a baton and two fixed-blade knives, he's more likely to use his fists (or knees, elbows, feet, etc.) to take down a foe within immediate distance.

Interaction: In conversation, Officer Tindal is often multitasking or distracted. When he's on duty, he's more likely to shoot than to chat.

Use: A character is caught committing a petty crime. PCs are asked to give police statements regarding an ongoing investigation.

Other Equipment: Enterprising characters may wish to remove the computer core from Officer Tindal's titanium-reinforced skull; doing so without damaging any vital components is a level 4 Intellect task.
