Aguallary 4 (12)

Tidal Blades

Aguallaries are those who have unique skills and abilities similar to Engineers, but have no interest in being part of the city infrastructure (or perhaps didn't make the cut to join the Engineers' ranks). Aguallaries have been part of Naviri for a long time, even before michronic devices existed. They were in charge of operating the first water wheels long ago, and have continued fixing and understanding machines ever since, even though their work has little to do with water nowadays.

While they may continue to make unique contributions to the city and its people, aguallaries almost always charge for their services and expertise. Alternatively, they may use their skills and knowledge for their personal benefit, gaining power, prestige, shells, or whatever their hearts desire.

Motive: Greed, power, and profit

Environment: Everywhere

Health: 12

Damage Inflicted: Moderate wound (4 points)

Movement: Short

Modifications: Science and technology (including michronic manipulation) as level 6; crafting as level 5

Combat: Aguallaries often have technological enhancements and devices that aid in defense or offense. Like Adepts, they typically have unique michronic abilities or devices that give them an advantage in a range of situations.

An aguallary may have a device or ability that inflicts a moderate wound (5 points) on all creatures within long range, changes their appearance (disguise as level 5), grants +3 to Armor for ten minutes, allows them to levitate 20 feet (6 m) per round for ten minutes, and so on.

Interaction: While aguallaries spend a fair amount of time with their studies and inventions, they are always open to opportunities to talk about their passions, or to make some shells. Some have loyalties that can't be bought—they may be part of the Entanglers or refuse to work against the city's best interests—but most are willing to sell their knowledge, creations, and themselves for the right price.

Use: Aguallaries are fonts of knowledge, and are more readily accessible to the average person than those who lock themselves in the Citadel of Time. If the PCs need a forgery, a specialized piece of equipment, some obscure knowledge, or an ally with a unique talent, an aguallary is a place to start.

Loot: An aguallary typically has a cypher and a variety of tools and parts.

GM Intrusion: The aguallary's michronic ability interacts with one of the character's abilities, causing it to turn back on the character. They must make a defense roll to resist.
