KILLER ROBOT 4 (12)

The Strange Bestiary

Sometimes killer robots are created when a well-intentioned project goes wrong. Other times they're the result of a state-sponsored program to develop war machines or automated assassins, which inevitably slip free of their programing collars.

Killer robots possess a humanoid appearance, so that with a bit of additional disguise, they can pass as regular people. The facade allows them to kill victims in secret and replace the dead with more killer robots. In battle, the inner plasma core of the robot burns away the disguise, revealing its true red-hot metal form.

Motive: Kill humans

Environment (Weird Science or Standard Physics): Nearly anywhere, either out in plain sight or disguised as a human, alone or in groups of two to four

Health: 12

Damage Inflicted: Moderate wound (6 points)

Armor: 2

Movement: Short

Modifications: Disguise and deception as level 6; knowledge of tasks related to disguise as level 5.

Combat: Killer robots are freakishly strong, and a punch from one can break bones. In addition, a killer robot can generate a red-hot plasma sphere and throw it like a grenade at a target within long range. The target and all other creatures within immediate range of the target must succeed on a Speed defense roll or take 4 points of damage from the searing plasma. A killer robot can generate a plasma sphere once every other round.

A killer robot can also spray plasma from its mouth. When it does, its head spins around like a top, so all creatures within immediate range are targeted as if with a plasma sphere. This counts as a use of its plasma sphere ability.

Interaction: After a killer robot doffs its disguise and begins to kill, there's no reasoning with it. It fights until it is destroyed or it destroys its target.

Use: In some recursions, everything looks normal on the surface, but every "person" in the entire limited world is actually a killer robot going through the motions of normal life, even though everyone they thought to fool is now dead.

GM Intrusion: The character is struck blind for three rounds after being exposed to the robot's searing plasma.
