[FOCI]

Wears Spurs

Some call you a vigilante, others call you a villain. It depends on whether you're more concerned with helping others or just yourself. Either way, you're someone who tends to act without the consultation or approval of authorities to accomplish what you think needs to be done. Often enough, that's fighting outlaws and desperados. Whether that's because you can't stand to see evil flourish or because you see them as competition is up to you. Either way, you can ride like the wind, shoot like Annie Oakley, and drink like Wild Bill Hickok and still never lose a game of cards.

You probably wear a duster, a wide-brimmed hat, a kerchief you can pull up around your mouth to keep down the dust, and expensive cowboy boots complete with spurs.

Additional Equipment

Access to a horse or similar mount (level 2), six-shooter (medium pistol), spurs for your boots.

Minor Effect Suggestion

Your horse kicks the target, knocking the target prone.

Major Effect Suggestion

Your horse (or your bullet) strikes your target in a limb, making that limb useless for the next minute.

Tier 1

Rider Skill

You are trained in all tasks related to riding a horse, including care and feeding, healing, and otherwise seeing to your mount's needs. If you use your action to urge your mount to take an action-such as jumping a ravine–the task is one step less difficult.

Ride and Shoot Enabler

You can make an attack with a light or medium ranged weapon and attempt a riding task-such as urging your mount to jump a ravine-as a single action.

Tier 2

Home on the Range Enabler

You are specialized in finding food and water in places where such things are difficult to find. This doesn't just mean out in the wilderness. Even in a boomtown where everyone is offering some kind of service to miners hoping to strike it rich, you might find enough sustenance to get by without having to pay for it.

Quick Hands Enabler

Not many people can get the draw on you. You are trained in initiative tasks.

Tier 3

Shoot Them Down (2 Speed points) Action

You know how to kill quickly. When you hit with a ranged attack using a pistol, you deal 4 additional points of damage. You can't make this attack in two consecutive rounds.

Tier 4

Hold Your Whiskey Skill

You are trained in Might defense tasks. Also, if you've had a few drinks (enough to make normal people staggering drunk), you can act without penalty, and moreover, gain an asset to Intellect defense tasks and intimidation tasks.

Tier 5

Bullet in Time Enabler

If you attack with your pistol from a hidden vantage, with surprise, or before an opponent has acted, the difficulty of your attack is reduced by two steps. On a successful hit with this surprise attack, you inflict 4 additional points of damage.

Tier 6

Shoot to Kill (5+ Speed points) Action

With a swift and sudden draw from your holster, you shoot a foe in a vital spot. If the target is level 3 or lower, it is killed outright. Instead of applying Effort to decrease the difficulty, you can use it to increase the level of the target you affect; each level of Effort applied increases the effective level by 1.

GM Intrusion: A posse from another town shows up looking for a gunman matching the character's description. A game of cards causes tempers to flare. Someone wearing a mask engages the character in a duel.
