Some of your organic parts have been replaced with artificial components. Like most people in the city, you are a cyborg, but your augmentations are extensive, and your chrome parts are meant for defense and protecting others. You almost certainly have metal plating and technical components visible on your skin. As you advance, you can add to, modify, or discover new functions for your machine parts.

Tier 1

Type Swap Option:

Hidden Shield Enabler

You have a shield built into your body (probably your arm) made of a composite of metal and advanced polymers. The shield is concealed until you wish to use it. You are practiced in using the shield in one hand as a light melee weapon. Furthermore, as part of an attack action you can make a melee attack with the shield, but if you do so the main attack and shield attack are both hindered.

Tank Chrome Enabler

Your machine parts grant you +1 to Armor and +2 to your Might Pool.

Tier 2

⚡Defensive HUD (2+ Intellect points) Enabler

You upgrade your chrome with heads-up display (HUD) systems that help you make sense of, analyze, and use your defenses in your environment. When you trigger this ability, you gain an asset on one defense roll as your software outlines foes and predicts their attacks.

Alternatively, you can use the heads-up display to magnify your vision, increasing your vision range to 5 miles (8 km) for two rounds. If you apply one level of Effort, you can also see through basic materials (such as wood, concrete, plastic, and stone) to a short distance in false color images. If you apply two levels of Effort, you can see through special materials (such as solid lead or other substances) to an immediate distance in false color images; however, the GM might require you to succeed at an Intellect-based task first, depending on the material blocking your armor’s sensors.

Tiers 3

Ability Choice: Choose either Enhanced Armor or Hidden Shield as your tier 3 ability.

Enhanced Armor Enabler

You upgrade your hardware to give you armor plating, subdermal implants, or some other material that provides physical protection. This gives you +1 to Armor.

Hidden Shield Enabler

Furthermore, as part of an attack action you can make a melee attack with the shield, but if you do so the main attack and shield attack are both hindered.

Tier 4

Living Wall (3 Might points) Enabler

You specify a confined area—such as an open doorway, a hallway, or a space between two trees—where you stand. For the next ten minutes, if anyone attempts to enter or pass through that area and you don't wish it, you make an automatic attack against them. If you hit, not only do you inflict damage, but they must also stop their movement.

Tier 5

Deep Reserves Action

When others are exhausted, you can push through. Once each day, you can transfer up to 5 points among your Pools in any combination, at a rate of 1 point per round. For example, you could transfer 3 points of Might to Speed and 2 points of Intellect to Speed, which would take a total of five rounds.

Tier 6

Embedded Drone (3 Intellect points) Action

Your chrome now has an embedded drone that you can launch and control for up to an hour. The drone is no larger than 1 foot (30 cm) on a side. It has manipulators, allowing it to attempt to accomplish physical tasks, and a built-in medium pistol that it can use to make attacks. The drone can immediately take an action on the turn that you launch it. You’ll probably make rolls for your drone when it takes actions. A drone in combat usually doesn’t make separate attacks but helps with your defenses. On your action, if the drone is next to you, it serves as an asset for one defense roll you make on your turn. If the drone is destroyed, you can spend 2 XP to rebuild it.
