Finds What's Lost

First Responders

Thanks to natural instincts, training, equipment, or a combination of these, you have a unique ability to find people and things that are missing. Whether you're searching for a victim in a burning building, a survivor buried in the rubble, or a plane crashed in the wilderness, you're able to locate what you seek quickly and efficiently.

Tier 1

Wayfinder Enabler

You're able to quickly get a sense of a location, even one you've never been to before (or one that has been drastically changed by a disaster). Whenever you use Effort to attempt navigation, perception, or searching tasks in a new or altered environment, you can apply an additional free level of Effort.

Tier 2

Chosen Target (2 Intellect points) Action

Choose an individual, animal, item, location, or other thing that you are searching for. You are trained in all tasks involving tracking, searching, following, understanding, interacting with, rescuing, or recovering that creature, object, or place. You can have only one target at a time.

Action to initiate.

Tier 3

Ability Choice: Choose either Rescue Companion or Seeker as your tier 3 ability.

Rescue Companion Enabler

A level 3 trained search-and-rescue dog accompanies you and follows your instructions. As a level 3 creature, it has a target number of 9 and 9 health, and it inflicts a minor wound (3 points). It can provide you with an asset to any task you attempt involving searching, navigation, listening, and rescue, or it can do something on its own that is within the purview of a trained search-and-rescue dog Although dogs are the most common search-and-rescue animals, they're not the only option. For example, rats have been trained to detect land mines and dolphins are used to find objects, detect mines, and rescue lost swimmers. If you'd like to have an unusual animal as your companion, workwith your GM to make sure it has appropriate stats and abilities. (such as search in a different area from you, pull equipment, attack, or defend). Your companion acts on your turn, and you make rolls for it when it takes actions. You can gain this ability once per tier. Each additional time you select it, it increases your companion's level by 1.

Seeker (3 Intellect points) Action

When you are looking for something or someone specific, such as a survivor trapped in a cave-in or a valuable piece of equipment from a train crash, and you focus your attention on it, you are more likely to find it. For the next ten minutes, if what you are seeking is within short range and you could conceivably perceive it (such as hearing cries or catching a glimpse of shifting rubble), you do so. This ability provides a general sense of direction and distance, but it doesn't pinpoint the exact location (unless you happen to be standing right on top of what you're looking for).
