First Responders
You don't really consider fire your friend, of course. But you strive to understand it, to thinklike it, to predict its every move—and then to use that knowledge to slow its spread, decrease its power, and, ideally, stop it in its tracks.
When you use a fire hose, extinguisher, or other type of suppression equipment, you douse flames and smoke within a 10-foot-by-10-foot (3 m by 3 m) square for one round. The equipment you use determines how far away from you the doused area is. Anyone or anything passing through the area during the round is not harmed by fire or smoke. You need to make a roll against the level of the fire. This ability does not work on other potentially hazardous materials.
You have studied your enemy and are trained in anticipating the way a fire is likely to move and act. Defense tasks you attempt against all fire-related attacks are eased.
Ability Choice: Choose either Improvise or Stop the Spread as your tier 3 ability.
When you perform a task in which you are not trained, you can improvise to gain an asset on the task. The asset might be a tool you cobble together, a sudden insight into overcoming a problem, or a rush of dumb luck.
After spending one round studying the fire and the surrounding area, you are able to discern the best way to stop the fire from spreading. On your next action, you halt the fire's spread for two rounds. For each level of Effort applied, you can attempt to stop the fire from spreading for one additional round.
